RVGGP will be back in 2017, watch out for further details coming soon!
On Sunday 11th September 2016, Glynde & Beddingham hosted a day of family entertainment and an exciting Gravity Racing competition.
This was the second year of the event and the day will include up to 30 handmade carts racing along a ½ km track of speeds up to 30 mph. The Racers are mainly drawn from local teams including private individuals and from the active business communities of the Reach Valley & Lewes.
Why is the event called the Reach Valley Gravity Grand Prix?
The Reach Valley is the area to the South East of Lewes that is drained by Glynde Reach which punctures the South Downs between Mount Caburn & Firle Beacon in order to flow into the River Ouse. It includes the villages of Glynde, Beddingham & Firle and is bordered by Ringmer and Laughton to the North and Chalvington, Ripe & Selmeston to the East.
Although the course of the Gravity Grand Prix runs through Glynde village the event is put on by a team of volunteers drawn from the whole Reach Valley area. It is hoped that, over time and as the event grows, we can pursue the possibility of using even more challenging hills like Firle Bostal as well.
How can you get involved?
Why not enter a cart , become a sponsor , or get in touch if you are interested in volunteering to help out on the day of the event. If that’s not for you, just come along on the day to cheer on the competitors and enjoy a great community event.
